Dental Health

Dental health is critical to your pets well being. Over 70% of dogs and cats have dental disease by the age of 3. Left untreated, periodontal disease can cause oral pain, tooth loss and can lead to heart, liver or kidney disease.

The good news is that pet owners can reduce the risk of oral disease. The first step in preventing oral disease is a routine physical examination including a dental exam. The veterinarians at South Des Moines Veterinary Center will then be able to assess your pet’s teeth and develop a treatment plan that fits your pet’s needs.
