South Des Moines Veterinary Center strives to provide quality health care for your pet. In the event your pet experiences illness or trauma, we are proud to offer an advanced medical setting, which includes diagnostic and surgical services and an onsite lab to rapidly diagnose and treat your pet.

Digital Pet x-ray

Digital x-rays provide clear, two-dimensional, still images that are captured digitally. Digital x-rays are fast, painless, and safe for dogs and cats, and are ideal for viewing:

  • Bones and joints
  • Stomach, intestines, and colon
  • Lungs and heart
  • Bladder, spleen, and kidneys

Onsite Veterinary Diagnostics Laboratory

We are proud to offer onsite veterinary diagnostic laboratory testing. Laboratory testing during a wellness visit provides baseline information, which is valuable in rapid and early detection of health concerns. We can provide options and treatments to keep your pet healthy. Many of our standard diagnostic tests can be evaluated while you wait or the next day. Our common laboratory tests include:

  • Complete blood count

Ultrasound

Our portable ultrasound provides extraordinary views in to soft tissue structures. Ultrasound is ideal for viewing:

  • Abdominal structures (gallbladder, intestines, liver, etc)
  • Heart
  • Diagnosing pregnancy
  • Checking for fluid in the abdomen or chest

Signs of Pet Illness

We recommend routine wellness visits to check and monitor your pet’s health. Between visits, contact us if you recognize any changes in your pet’s normal routine. You know your pet best, and early detection ensures the best possible treatment outcome.
